Aksaray University Technical Vocational School of Higher Education Chemistry Technology program has been started to associate degree education in 2015-2016 academic year. Education activities of program has been performed as teorical, laboratuvary practise, and personally sectoral practice with 5 lecturer PhD. Education activities in Chemistry Technology program which gives an opportinity for associate degree to 25 students in average every year, has been pursued succesfully. 25 per cent of the academic program which consists of compulsory and elective cources, has been comprised of elective courses being interest-based, supportive to students in business life and updated by lecturers every academic year.
The aim of the program is to educate intermediate staff having essential professional competence in deference to requirements of all industries including chemical sector in paralel with scientific and technologic evolutions. Program aims to gain both basic princibles of chemistry and all laboratuvary knowledge and skills for applications. Therefore, students graduated from the program will possess skills providing technological demands of our country with their knowledge. Priorities of the program are; to provide taking the advantages of present opportunities of highest order for students, to provide constant improvement of the education, and to update curriculum in accordance with national and international standards and requirements of the industry.
Students deserve to take associate degree by taking courses of at least 120 ECTS successfully. Graduateswho completed the programdeserve to be CHEMISTRY TECHNICIAN and get chemistry technology associate degree diploma. Students must do internship (30 work day) based upon industry before graduation. Chemistry technician functions as a bridge between laborant, worker andengineer at performing dutiessuch as operating tools and machines, checking the quality of products in factories and studios producing chemical substance. Students graduated from chemistry technology program can work both in public by taking KPSS exam and in industry at chemical analysis and quality-checking laboratories and in laboratories of healthcare organizations in accordance with their efficiencies gained in the selected division/career. Chemistry technology field is closely related with all sectors making industrial production besides health and food industries. Graduated students can work in factories and sectors such as glass, rubber-gum, cement, paper, sugar, dye, and fertilizer factories and food, medicine, soil, cosmetic and cleaning, energy, petrol, automotive, metal, leather, textile, petrochemistry, health, mineral, construction and wood sectors and in shipyards. There has been needs for qualified employee in these sectors and sector companies request employee in this field.
Moreover, Sector Applications 1 and 2 courses which students can take in fall and spring semesters of second year, give chance on the one hand to education on the other hand to gain professional experience in a factory for 3 days in a week and thereby, early stepping to working life of students is facilitated. Business opportunities after graduation are increased by means of procured professional experience in this period. Graduates can switch to bachelor’s degree programs such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry, Chemical and Process Engineering, Fiber and Polymer Engineering, Material Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, and Polymer Engineering by taking DGS exam.
